Albuquerque's airport is known as
the "Albuquerque International Sunport"

 

Albuquerque Sunport Carriers:

ABQ is served by nine major commercial carriers: American, America West, Continental, Delta, Frontier, Northwest, Southwest, and United . It also receives regular service from commuter airlines Great Plains, Mesa, Rio Grande Air and Skywest.

Southwest Airlines is ABQ's largest carrier; it handled 51% of ABQ's 2000 passengers. They are the official airline to the US Cogress and will offer up to 10% off most fares for air travel to and from Albuquerque.

Service to Albuquerque:

ABQ offers nonstop service to 28 cities including: Amarillo, Atlanta, Baltimore/Washington, Chicago, Cincinnati, Colorado Springs, Dallas, Denver, Durango, El Paso, Houston, Kansas City, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Lubbock, Midland/Odessa, Minneapolis, Newark, Oakland, Oklahoma City, Orlando, Phoenix, Portland, St. Louis, Salt Lake City, San Diego, Seattle, Tampa and Tucson.Ê Nonstop in-state service is offered to 8 cities including Alamogordo, Carlsbad, Clovis, Farmington, Gallup, Roswell, Silver City and Taos.

Directions to Sunport:
From the north:
Interstate 25 south to the Sunport Blvd. exit (#221). East on Sunport to the front of the terminal. Signage will direct motorists to the arrival and departure level roadways and to short and long term, on-airport parking

From the south:
Interstate 25 south to the Gibson Blvd. exit (#222A). East on Gibson to Yale Blvd. Turn south on Yale Blvd. Signage will direct motorists to the arrival and departure level roadways and to short and long term, on-airport parking.

Parking at the Sunport
A four-level parking structure adjacent to the ABQ terminal with covered access provides space for 3,400 automobiles on an hourly basis. The parking facility is open 24 hours per day.

  • Albuquerque International Sunport handled 6,292,458 passengers in 2000. The total has more than doubled over the past 10 years.
  • There were 233,491 takeoffs and landings, or an average of 640 per day, in 2000 at ABQ.Ê 82,117 by major airlines; 34,441 by commuter airlines; 44,731 by military aircraft; and 72,202 by general aviation aircraft.
  • ABQ shares its runways with Kirtland Air Force Base, which provides aircraft rescue and firefighting (ARFF) services for the airport.
  • Ground transportation is provided by Albuquerque Cab, Custom Tours by Clarice, Gray Line of Albuquerque, Faust's Transportation, Santa Fe Shuttle Express, Sandia Shuttle Express, Sun Tran, TNM&O, Twin Hearts Express, and Yellow Cab.
  • Car rental agencies on the airport are Advantage, Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National and Thrifty.
  • A Federal Express drop box and stamp machine are available at Wells Fargo Bank. Postal Service boxes are located on the terminal's third level beyond the Security Checkpoint.
  • Facilities for persons with disabilities include elevators in the parking structure and between each of the terminal's three levels, wheelchairs, braille signage, wheelchair-accessible restrooms and drinking fountains, and telecommunications devices for the deaf (TDD).
  • The Albuquerque International Sunport Art Collection is displayed throughout the terminal. The collection includes Native American, Hispanic and Contemporary works by New Mexico artists.
