"DSMC: Theory, Methods and Applications" is a four-day workshop to be held in
Santa Fe, New Mexico (USA) on September 30-October 3, 2007.

The goal of the meeting is to bring together developers and practitioners of the Direct Simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) method. Talks are welcomed from all DSMC-related work, including theoretical foundations, validation, verification, convergence, computational efficiency, hydrodynamic fluctuations, transient flow, flow instability, and algorithm development. Talks on applications of the DSMC method are also welcomed in topic areas such as aerospace, micro-scale flows, nano-scale flows, plasmas, gas-phase reactions, phonon transport, dense gases, liquids, granular flow, agent modeling, traffic, and planetary atmospheres. Talks will also be considered for closely related research areas, such as gas-surface interactions, gas-gas collisions, and gas transport properties.

The meeting's goals are similar to the recent DSMC workshops in Milan in 2003 (www.algarcia.org/DSMC40) and in Santa Fe in 2005 (www.esc.sandia.gov/dsmc/). These highly successful meetings provided unique opportunities for participants to access the current state and future direction of the DSMC method. By bringing together participants that spanned a wide spectrum of DSMC-related research, these meetings promoted significant interactions among the key innovators in the community. Round-table debates on the future of the DSMC method were particularly worthwhile. We hope to repeat the success of these meetings in the present workshop.

The first day of the workshop, Sunday, September 30, Dr. Graeme A. Bird will give a short course on DSMC, "Sophisticated DSMC: Theory and Applications."
