May 11-15, 2008

The 17th Topical Conference on High-Temperature Plasma Diagnostics will be held May 11-15, 2008 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This biennial conference brings together plasma physicists from a variety of fields including magnetic confinement fusion, inertial confinement fusion, space plasmas, astrophysics, and industrial applications to discuss mutual problems in the development of instrumentation and experimental techniques for the characterization of high-temperature plasmas.

The conference format will be similar to those of the past, consisting of seven sessions of invited and contributing papers.  The contributing papers will be presented in the poster format.  Two of the meeting days will have morning and evening sessions, with the afternoons free for individual discussions and activities.  To further encourage participant discussions and interactions, no parallel sessions are being planned.

The conference will be held at the Hyatt Regency Albuquerque located in the heart of downtown Albuquerque.  Albuquerque is a high desert city full of exciting attractions and events and has a mild southwestern climate.  Route 66, science and technology, nature, arts and history, the Jemez mountains, the Sandia mountains, American Indian culture, and historic Old Town are but a few of the areas to be explored in and around Albuquerque.  Albuquerque is home to several research and educational institutions including Sandia National Laboratories and the University of New Mexico.  Santa Fe is also a quick 45-minute drive from Albuquerque.
